Latest paper published: A neuroanatomical, genetical, and cognitive characterization of HIV rats.

This paper (link to PDF) validates the use of HIV transgenic rats for the study of neuroinflammation in AIDS, and identify new pathways that could be targeted to reduce cognitive impairment in patients with HIV/AIDS.
Doing behavior in rats is always a challenge, doing behavior in transgenic rats is an even greater challenge, doing behavior in transgenic rats in a BSL3 facility is a whole different game. The results was worth the time and effort.

Gene expression changes consistent with neuroAIDS and impaired working memory in HIV-1 transgenic rats.
