What we expect
Research assistants, technicians & lab managers
As permanent employees, you are the core of the laboratory. You keep the lab fully operational, proactively offer help before, during, and after experiments, keep records and standard operating procedures, collect and organize data, and flag issues you cannot solve on your own. You get the most schedule flexibility — and we expect the most flexibility in return.
Undergraduate students
Be dependable, punctual, and committed. Read the papers related to your project. Ask questions — and ask again — and never perform a procedure you don't fully understand. Keep a daily notebook. You will make mistakes; you will never be in trouble for making one, but you will be for hiding one. Own your mistakes and you will earn respect.
Graduate students & postdocs
Everything above, and much more: present fully analyzed data with journal-quality figures and statistics, learn new skills and teach your own, mentor undergraduates, propose new ideas and experiments, maintain an Individual Development Plan, and help review manuscripts, write papers, and push projects toward the highest impact on the field.
